November 2024: 19th A3PS Conference Eco-Mobility

Barbara and Mehmet participated in the 19th A3PS Conference Eco-Mobility 2024 - Sustainable Energy Carriers and Innovative Propulsion Systems in a Circular Economy - in Vienna, Austria, and presented posters on our recent research from the MateriaLyze and Design-SOEC projects.

November 2024: Christina defended her PhD thesis (Kopie 1)

Congratulations to Christina Nader who defended her PhD thesis on 05.11.2024 and passed with distinction. Christina's thesis "Fundamental structure-property relations of triple-conducting Ba(Ce,Fe,Acc)O3-δ ceramics" was supported by the project ProTec (FFG, PN: 871659).

November 2024: Wasserstoff:Brücke Wels

Andreas gave a talk at the Wasserstoffbruecke:Wels organized by Fachhochschule Öberösterreich Campus Wels, Austria, and presented recent research from the Design-SOEC project.

October 2024: Sarah defended her PhD thesis (Kopie 1)

Congratulations to Sarah Eisbacher-Lubensky (third from left) who defended her PhD thesis on 10.10.2024 and passed with distinction. Sarah's thesis "Influence of fundamental material properties on the oxygen exchange kinetics of the rare earth nickelate La2NiO4+δ for use as oxygen electrode in solid oxide electrolysis cells" was supported by the projects HydroMetha (FFG, PN: 864578), MateriaLyze (Zukunftsfonds Steiermark, PN: 1407) and Design-SOEC (FFG, PN: F0999896681) and Montanuniversitaet Leoben.

September 2024: New bachelor student Stefan Durst

In September Stefan Durst joined our group as a bachelor student. Stefan studies Energy Technology at MUL. His research will focus on preparation and characterization on fuel electrodes for solid oxide electrolyzer cells within the FFG-project "Design-SOEC".

In May Leonie Preis joined our group as a bachelor student. Leonie studies Energy Technology at MUL. Her research will focus on preparation and characterization of composite air electrodes for solid oxide electrolyzer cells within the FFG-project "Design-SOEC".

April 2024: Barbara wins PhD baking competition "Dissertation Dessert"

On 29.04.2024 Barbara received the 1st Prize in MUL's PhD baking competition "Dissertation Dessert" for her contribution: Super outstanding edible cake (SOEC) for delicious energy storage and conversion.

March 2024: Edith was nominated for the STEIRERIN Awards 2024

Edith was selcted for the shortlist of the STEIRERIN Awards 2024 in the category "Die Visionärin".

March 2024: New project student Benjamin Engelhart

In March Benjamin Engelhart joined our group as a project student. Benjamin studies Energy Technology at MUL. His research will focus on new surface activation methods for electrodes of electrochemical solid oxide cells.

In February Martin Hatzl joined our group as a master student. Martin studies Energy Technology at MUL. His research will focus on new high-entropy electrode materials for improving the performance of electrochemical solid oxide cells within the FFG-project "Design-SOEC".

April 2023: Start of the new FFG-project Design-SOEC

Our new project "Knowledge-based design of solid oxide electrolysis cells for optimized hydrogen production (Design-SOEC)", funded by "Klima- und Energiefonds/Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)" within the 8th Call "Energieforschung", started on 01.04.2023. The aim of the project is to develop solid oxide electrolyzer cells with optimized core components and improved reliability, energy efficiency and lifetime. Our cooperation partners are Materials Center Leoben Forschung GmbH and AVL List GmbH.
